The SNOWMAN COLLECTIONS became the largest collection in the Mary Parker Portfolio. They were rendered in a number of different styles and with different mediums. I am providing here a few of the different looks. The snowman offered to the manufacturer a ‘wider window of opportunity’ through which he might sell his product. By the same token the snowman gave the shop owner the same opportunity. If the image did not specifically announce Christmas, it could be used a while before the season and throughout January. So snowmen for me became a large number. The design shows took place in New York in the month of May and at that time of year manufacturers were looking for images, artwork, designs to go on winter and Christmas product a year to two years in advance. Because I did not market my work in the same manner as many artists did, with an agent, and because I did not seek out the manufacturers on a regular basis the design show in May became a major focus and the MARY PARKER CHRISTMAS PORTFOLIO a major presentation.
